The Hunt Center for Entrepreneurship at New Mexico State University’s Arrowhead Center and Startup Chihuahua have partnered to support entrepreneurs in the Borderplex region and the city of Chihuahua. Their collaboration will launch a series of angel investment training sessions designed to boost the local entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The Hunt Center is dedicated to fostering entrepreneurship by empowering diverse groups, educating students to commercialize innovative products and services, and increasing access to early-stage investment. Their efforts are aimed at cultivating a thriving entrepreneurial community in the region.
The first session, “Venture Forward: Navigating the World of Angel Investing,” is scheduled for May 22 and will be a virtual masterclass featuring Drew Tulchin, president of New Mexico Angels. This session will cover the basics of angel investing and offer insights from an experienced investor.
Carlos Murguía, director of the Hunt Center for Entrepreneurship, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Startup Chihuahua to offer a series of transformative training sessions on angel investing. Angel investment is not just capital; it is the fuel for innovation in our region.”
The second session, “Investment Immersion,” will be held from July 11-13. This multi-day, in-person summit will dive deep into the nuances of angel investing, including due diligence, portfolio construction, valuations, and management. In collaboration with Sun Cruces Angels, the program will feature workshops, panel discussions, networking opportunities, and presentations by founders of Borderplex startups. The event will occur at various El Paso and Las Cruces locations, offering participants a glimpse into the region’s innovation and entrepreneurship hubs.
Andres Guzman, director of Startup Chihuahua, emphasized the importance of the initiative, saying, “This initiative is critical, as we believe informed and engaged angel investors play a crucial role in fostering entrepreneurship and catalyzing economic growth.”
