$1.2 Million Allocated to Train Up to 93 New Employees Statewide
The New Mexico Economic Development Department (EDD) has allocated nearly $1.2 million in job training funds at its July 2024 Job Training Incentive Program (JTIP) board meeting. Acting Secretary Mark Roper announced that eleven companies applied for the funds, which are intended to support the hiring and training of up to 93 new employees.
JTIP is a state initiative designed to promote relocation, growth, and hiring within New Mexico by reimbursing companies for a percentage of eligible trainee expenses upon completion of training. These reimbursements incentivize hiring in rural and frontier areas, and the employment of New Mexico higher education graduates and Veterans, among other criteria. The board convenes monthly to approve applications in a public meeting, during which companies can present additional information to support their requests.
“The JTIP program is essential for supporting communities and businesses as they drive our economy forward,” Roper stated. “Employers from across the state are creating high-quality jobs for New Mexicans.”
This month’s JTIP funding was awarded to companies located in New Mexico and it’s borderplex. The eleven recipients are:
1. Century Sign Builders, Albuquerque – 2 trainees with an average wage of $24. Total award: $25,424.
– Specializes in designing, manufacturing, and installing interior and exterior signage nationwide.
2. ErgoTech Systems, Inc., Los Alamos – 2 trainees with an average wage of $45. Total award: $52,398.
– Develops software for engineers with minimal programming skills to build applications for data collection and industrial equipment monitoring.
3. Higher Cultures LLC, Las Cruces – 7 trainees with an average wage of $21. Total award: $50,130.
– Focuses on providing high-quality cannabis products and creating quality jobs in the community.
4. Little Toad Creek Brewery and Distillery, Deming – 9 trainees with an average wage of $19. Total award: $91,782.
– Operates a nano-brewery, distillery, rural hotel, restaurant, and tasting rooms, experiencing steady growth since 2014.
5. Molten Salt Solutions, LLC, Santa Fe – 3 trainees with an average wage of $43. Total award: $72,339.
– Provides advanced isotopically enriched materials for new nuclear power generation technologies.
6. New Mexico Consortium (NMC), Los Alamos – 2 trainees with an average wage of $47. Total award: $54,880.
– A partnership among New Mexico universities and the Los Alamos National Laboratory, focusing on research and education in areas such as solar energy and biofuels.
7. Pajarito Powder LLC, Albuquerque – 4 trainees with an average wage of $32. Total award: $73,055.
– Produces advanced catalysts for fuel cell electric vehicles and electrolyzers.
8. Pecos Valley Production, Inc. (PVP), Roswell – 55 trainees with an average wage of $21. Total award: $674,232.
– Operates a cannabis cultivation campus and provides a range of cannabis products across 21 dispensary locations in 11 NM counties.
9. Securin, Inc., Albuquerque – 3 trainees with an average wage of $22. Total award: $21,600.
– Provides tech-enabled cybersecurity solutions to help customers worldwide mitigate emerging threats.
10. The Grow NM Inc., Placitas – 5 trainees with an average wage of $17. Total award: $37,650.
– Manages indoor gardening operations, packaging, and retail stores, recently rebranded as Leaf & Flower NM.
11. UbiQD, Inc., Los Alamos – 1 trainee with an average wage of $72. Total amended award: $41,252.
– Manufactures high-performance cadmium-free quantum dots and composite materials for various applications.
These allocations are part of New Mexico’s broader efforts to foster economic development and job creation across the state.
